“If we can't do venture funding for our own businesses, is it fair to ask someone else to be as passionate about our own community?”
Joseph Rutakangwa is the Founder and CEO of Rwazi, a data gathering and tracking company that utilizes an innovative network of “mappers”—on-ground, individual data gatherers—to provide companies with fresh and verifiable consumer data. The company not only delivers invaluable information for companies looking to expand into Africa, it’s also a viable source of income to more than 5,000 individuals across 40 African countries.
Joseph’s journey, from his comfortable middle-class childhood, down to losing everything and having to live in the villages, back to starting a really cool startup, has “inspirational” written all over it. Joseph’s personal story is as colorful as his business ventures, and in this episode, he lets us in on both.
